About Me

Hi, I'm Molly.
I've always had a fascination with design. As a child I would spend hours creating dream houses for my dolls or floor plans on graph paper, as I got older I graduated from graph paper and started designing houses on the computer. Although the concept of interior design has followed me throughout life, it took me years as a psychology major to realize and decide that I could realistically turn my design interests into more than a hobby. I graduated in December 2016 from San Diego State University with a BA Interior Design and a minor in Sustainability.
Along with design, I love traveling, photography, and painting; which tend to run together as traveling and exploring are at the heart of my work. I find my inspiration in nature; it's colors, textures, and rich diversity as well as various cultures from around the globe. Witnessing and capturing the beauty that the world has to offer is humbling and irreplaceable.
My passion for both design and nature has developed into a focus on sustainable design and architecture. I am constantly trying to balance my love for design with my respect for nature and my concern for our planet's future. I am currently studying to take the LEED Green Associate Exam and am an active board member for IGIHOF, a non-profit that recognizes organizations and individuals for striving to incorporate environmentalism into their every day practices. I have noticed that when it comes to design, sustainability is often something to strive for only when it fits the aesthetic and budget of a project. I would love to see sustainability as a standard in the design world, it is exciting to see the movement gaining momentum so rapidly. I am very interested in tackling the issue of urban sprawl as our population continues to grow and I believe the issue lies within finding a balance between the need for privacy and respecting the environment. In the future, I am hoping to focus on sustainable multi-use and multi-family buildings as well as adaptive reuse.
